Rose Marcario
President & CEO
Rose Marcario joined Patagonia in 2008 as Chief Financial Officer and soon took on the duties of Chief Operating Officer. She then became President and CEO of Patagonia Works in 2013. Marcario came to Patagonia with 15 years' experience in corporate finance and global operations.
Under Marcario's leadership, Patagonia has experienced unprecedented growth and global expansion, both in traditional business metrics and by deepening the company's commitment to environmental activism and social responsibility.
As Patagonia has grown under Marcario's leadership, so has its funding of grassroots environmental activists. Since 1985, giving has totaled more than $89 million. In 2015, President Obama honored Marcario as a White House Champion of Change for her support of working families.
With Patagonia's founder, Yvon Chouinard, Marcario has also built Patagonia Provisions, an upstart food business dedicated to using food sourcing as a tool to help solve the environmental crisis, into a thriving business. She has also personally managed Patagonia's successful venture capital fund, Tin Shed Ventures, making strategic
investments in startups, clean energy funds and other endeavors.
Marcario, a native of Staten Island and the granddaughter of Italian immigrants, serves on the board of trustees for Naropa University (a Buddhist liberal arts college in Boulder, Colorado). She has personally supported conservation focused work with organizations like the Joshua Tree National Park Association and the Mojave Desert Land Trust. She holds an MBA from California State University – Los Angeles.
