LITTLE RED DOT KITCHEN FEATURING EGGPLANT BACON BAK KWA,

A PLANT-BASED VERSION OF ITS SINGAPORE-STYLE MEAT SNACKS

HAYWARD, Calif., Feb. 28, 2018 – Little Red Dot Kitchen is featuring a plant-based, vegan version of its Bak Kwa meat snacks, inspired by a traditional grilled Singapore and Malaysian street food, at Expo West, Booth 7501.

The Eggplant Baconess Bak Kwa has the flavor profile of an Asian style bacon, according to Little Red Dot Kitchen CEO Ching Lee. The Eggplant Bacon Bak Kwa is roasted like the company’s Bak Kwa meat snacks to give it a satisfying bite and chewy texture. Its taste profile combines sweet and savory umami flavors with a bit of tang, Lee said. The new flavor is available in resealable 2-ounce bags, eight to a case, with a suggested retail price of $6.99 to $7.99.

“We wanted to introduce a plant-based version as an alternative to an animal based protein snack,” Lee said. “For many people, snacking is more a way of life and some might love the taste of bacon but not want to eat it all the time. The Eggplant Bak Kwa is a good alternative.”

Also at Expo West, Little Red Dot Kitchen is showcasing a new 2-ounce bag of its Lemongrass Beef Bak Kwa meat snack. The roasted Angus beef has a smoky char that makes a flavorful counterpart to the distinctive flavors of lemongrass, rice wine and organic lime juice. The new 2-ounce bag has a suggested retail price of $6.99 to $7.99.
