High-Fat, Low-Sugar Baby Food with Pasture Raised and Grass-Fed Meats, Organic Vegetables and Healthy Fats Launching Soon in 3.5 oz. Pouches
ANAHEIM, March 6, 2018 – Serenity Kids will showcase the first-of-its-kind baby food line at Natural Products Expo West in Anaheim on March 7-11. Made with humanely raised meats and organic vegetables that are free of added hormones, antibiotics, and GMOs, Serenity Kids blends are ideal first foods for babies over 6 months. Founders, newlyweds, and soon-to-be-parents Serenity and Joe Carr will sample the three baby-approved flavors: Grass Fed Beef with Organic Kale and Sweet Potato, Free Range Chicken with Organic Peas and Carrots, and Pastured Uncured Bacon with Organic Kale and Butternut Squash, at booth N1245 in the Hot Products hall of the Anaheim Convention Center.
Serenity and Joe built the brand to offer a low-sugar, complete meal packed with healthy fats that aligned with their own Paleo-based approach to nutrition, with research and expert-backed formulations that were still delicious to babies. Recipe formulas match the macronutrients of mother’s milk and align with the USDA’s dietary guidelines for babies, for a nutritionally balanced ratio of approximately one-third meat to two-thirds vegetables. Protein content ranges from 4-5g, fat 5-7g, carbohydrates 9-11g, with only 2-3g of natural sugars per pouch. Nutritional formulations were created under the guidance of a certified clinical nutritionist and Dr. Sarah Ballantyne, PhD and are recommended by board certified pediatrician Dr. Michelle Levitt.
“Serenity Kids has the perfect blend of fat, protein, carbohydrates and other nutrients babies need, making it a superior first food over the often-recommended cereal grains,” said Dr. Levitt, “As a pediatric obesity medicine specialist, I’ve seen first-hand how prevention is key. Too much sugar and sweet flavors, especially in first foods, cultivates a sweet tooth from an early age, whereas a favoritism for high quality fat, carbohydrates and proteins from whole food sources will set them up for a lifetime of healthier eating.”
All meat is sourced from small American family farms, and aligned with the brand’s mission to support regenerative and ethical farming techniques. One percent of all profits are also donated to the Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund (FTCLDF), an organization that defends the rights and broadens the freedoms of family farms and protects consumer access to nutrient-dense foods.
“As a soon-to-be mother and purveyor of baby food, my obsession with infant nutrition and ethical food sourcing has only grown,” said Serenity Kids co-founder and CEO Serenity Carr. “I’m so pleased to be able to offer my own baby, and other families a clean, convenient meal option from a source they can trust – that mirrors the kind of nourishing foods that I enjoy myself.”
The Grass Fed Beef with Organic Kale and Sweet Potato and Pastured Uncured Bacon with Organic Kale and Butternut Squash varieties are also the first Paleo compliant, and Whole30 Approved baby foods. Whole30’s Healthy Mamas Happy Baby program for conceiving, expecting and new mothers recommends the line as a best first food for baby due to its iron, zinc and omega-3 content.
Advisory board members include Dr. Sarah Ballantyne, author of the Paleo Approach, Taylor Collins, Co-Founder & Chief of EPIC Provisions, Sam Elick, CEO of BrainJuice, and Robb Wolf, author of The Paleo Solution.
Pouches will launch for sale online by June 1, 2018 for $3.99 a pouch, or in multi-packs of six for $23.99. For more information and to sign up for pre-orders, visit www.myserenitykids.com.
About Serenity Kids
Serenity Kids is baby food of the highest nutritional, ethical and taste standards. Sparked by husband and wif Serenity and Joe Carr’s desire for healthier food for their future baby, the duo created a Paleo compliant option that aligned with their own values. Proponents of the Paleo diet, they were shocked at how much sugar and little fat was in most baby foods, and set out to create a delicious food that wouldn’t cause the inflammation associated with feeding too much sugar (even from fruit) and processed ingredients. High in protein and healthy fats from grass fed and pastured animals raised on small American family farms, and blended with organic vegetables, Serenity Kids’ recipes taste great and leave babies full, happy, and serene. Inspired by the macronutrient contents of mother’s milk, each blend’s ratio of protein, fat and carbohydrates was designed to meet what the USDA recommends for babies over six months old. Serenity Kids purees will be available soon in 3.5 oz. single serving pouches of Grass Fed Beef with Organic Kale and Sweet Potato, Free Range Chicken with Organic Peas and Carrots, and Uncured Bacon with Organic Kale and Butternut Squash. Serenity Kids uses only ingredients without any antibiotics, added hormones, pesticides, fillers, GMOs, or common allergens including gluten, grain, dairy, corn, eggs or nuts.
